As the oldest village it gave the valley its name.
In contrast to many other alpine valleys, the Brixental does not come to a dead end, but is open at both ends. It links to the Inn Valley in the west and to the Kitbühel area in the east.
The grassy slopes of the Brixental lie between the stony walls of the Wilder Kaiser and the snow capped peaks of the Hohen Tauern. The Ice Age glaciers caused the valley to form a bowl shape, and the ancient rock formations make for ideal walking terraine.
